SkyTube Legacy2.999

Play or download YouTube videos, browse channels and playlists, search videos, music, and channels, and read video comments through SkyTube Legacy. It is an open-source Android client in the Internet & Browsers category, designed to provide an ad-free YouTube experience on older devices.

Users can import their YouTube subscriptions, follow channels with non-intrusive notifications, read a subscriptions feed, bookmark videos, and explore Trending, Featured, and Most Popular content. Swipe gestures adjust volume and brightness or open comments and descriptions, while playback-speed controls allow videos to run faster or slower than live. Thumbnails can be viewed or downloaded, watched and partially watched videos are marked, and a resume-playing function returns to unfinished viewing.

Its filtering system can block channels through blacklists or whitelists, reject videos in languages outside the user’s preferences, and exclude content based on low view counts or high dislikes; a toolbar icon reports how many videos were blocked. SponsorBlock skips advertisement segments, while bookmarks and subscriptions can be backed up and restored from local device storage. This makes it useful for owners of legacy Android phones and viewers who want local subscription management and tighter control over recommendations.

SkyTube Legacy runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later, API level 14+, with Universal architecture, and uses a closed-source third-party library; it operates without a Google or YouTube account or GApps. It does not spy on user behavior and remains unaffiliated with YouTube, while additional features are planned. Version 2.999 discards AI-dubbed audio tracks and fixes channel opening after YouTube API changes.
