About

Smart File Renamer lets users rename batches of files and folders in one operation, replacing repetitive manual edits with reusable rules. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, while this release is intended for Linux. Users select a group of items, choose or create a naming rule, inspect the proposed results, and then apply the change.

Rules can use custom text, regular expressions, metadata, EXIF information, file tags, spreadsheet data, or document content, covering hundreds of renaming scenarios. Photos can be organized by country, date, or EXIF tags, while audio files can be renamed from music metadata. Preselected file categories can also be renamed with one click, and the program supports unlimited disks and folders.

Before and after previews, rename logs, and undo support let users verify changes and restore files to their previous names. Dark and Light themes accommodate different working preferences, making the software useful for photographers, music collectors, document managers, and anyone handling large folders of files.

Version 1.6.7 is commercial software for amd64 Linux systems and requires snapd. Recognition of external drives or removable media may require running the application’s snap in devmode. The available Linux edition has limited functionality compared with the separately available full version.

Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: amd64
