About
Syncthing keeps selected folders synchronized across your devices, propagating additions, edits, moves, and deletions so each participating device has an up-to-date copy. It addresses the problem of keeping working files consistent between a desktop, laptop, server, or other computers without relying on manual copying. Devices exchange changes directly, allowing a folder shared between them to remain current even when they are used at different times.
The web-based GUI shows connected devices, shared folders, synchronization status, and transfer activity in one place. You can choose which folders to share with which devices, apply per-folder settings, and use file versioning to preserve older copies when files change. Device identities and folder permissions help control which machines can exchange particular data.
Syncthing suits people coordinating files between personal computers, maintaining a synchronized working directory, or keeping copies of important data on several systems. It is open-source software for Linux, published by syncthing, and its device-to-device design is also useful for private infrastructure and small teams managing their own machines.
Current version 2.1.7 adds GUI grouping for devices and folders, along with HTTP or HTTPS proxies supporting CONNECT through the all_proxy environment variable in addition to SOCKS proxies. It also lets administrators disable block indexing to reduce database size and overhead, while GUI session duration and the session cookie path can be configured instead of using their defaults.
