Open CSV, Parquet, SQLite, or DuckDB files in Tad to inspect and analyze their tabular contents in a desktop window. Its Electron interface uses an in-memory DuckDB engine for storage and analytic queries, allowing large datasets to be explored without first building a separate database. You can also launch Tad from the command line with a file to open a scrollable view of its contents.

The React pivot-table interface combines pivoting, filtering, aggregation, sorting, column selection, column reordering, and basic formatting. Tad converts those operations into SQL and delegates their evaluation to its database layer. SlickGrid renders the table with efficient linear scrolling across files containing millions of rows.

Tad suits analysts, developers, and anyone investigating CSV exports, database extracts, or other tabular datasets. Its reltab SQL layer can communicate with DuckDB, SQLite, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, and AWS Athena (Presto), with support varying by backend. The modular Lerna-based refactor is written in TypeScript, uses React Hooks, keeps the pivot component independent for embedding in other applications, and includes a minimal proof-of-concept web front end.

Version 0.14.0 updates DuckDB to 1.0, adds Parquet export for filtered tables alongside CSV export, fixes number formatting in scientific notation, and includes other minor bug fixes and dependent package upgrades.
