Tower Collector3.0.2

Tower Collector records GPS positions for nearby GSM, UMTS, LTE, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, and 5G NR cell towers, helping map the reach of mobile networks. It lets you upload those measurements to OpenCellID.org, BeaconDB, and the @t0stbrot project, or keep the collected data for personal use. OpenCellID.org uses contributed locations to build a worldwide public database that can help locate devices when GPS is unavailable.

The app tunes its GPS behavior to limit battery drain during field collection. Collected records can be exported to an SD card in CSV, JSON, GPX, KML, or KMZ format for use in mapping, analysis, or archiving. BeaconDB combines the submitted tower data with information about Wi-Fi access points and Bluetooth beacons, releasing the aggregated tower data under CC0, while @t0stbrot publishes its aggregation under CC BY-SA 4.0.

This Navigation & Travel software suits community mapping projects, coverage surveys, and users who want an independent record of towers encountered during travel. It runs on Android 7.0 or newer with Universal architecture, and its open-source license permits inspection and participation in the project. Tower Collector is ad-free, and it does not collect, retain, or transmit information that directly identifies the user, device, or other personal details.

Version 3.0.2 replaces a toast with a notification when Android blocks an action launched in the background by an external app or shortcut, and it also updates external libraries. Community members can help translate the app, while bug reports and feature requests can be submitted by email or through GitHub Issues.
