VisualControls lets designers lay out Acuity Controls devices against project drawings, calculate the equipment needed for a budgetary bid, and produce a professional submittal from the same work. It combines drawing references, product selection, device connections, and project documentation in one workflow, reducing the duplication between design and specification tasks. Acuity Brands publishes it for lighting-control designers, specifiers, and estimators preparing system proposals or project documentation.

Users can import PDF or DWG drawings and background images to support device placement and system design. Existing work from Visual Lighting can also be imported, while a searchable Acuity product database helps locate products during selection. The software creates intelligent wire connections between devices and can generate a sequence of operations (SOO) from devices placed in a room, along with a riser from the design.

Design auditing helps identify issues that could cause specification errors. A single project file can hold multiple designs, keeping related layouts together, and outputs can be customized to match each design’s requirements. VisualControls runs on Windows with x64 architecture, and the current version is 1.13.1.173.
