Open a history file from voxcraft-sim in voxcraft-viz to replay how a voxel-based soft robot moves and changes over time. The program also provides a workspace for arranging voxels by hand, then running the resulting bot locally in a CPU-based physics engine. This lets researchers and students inspect simulated behavior or test a body design before building a physical creature.

In the voxcraft model, each voxel is a hollow silicone block that expands and contracts, while connected blocks form a voxelbot. Users can explore how body shape and timed expansion or contraction—driven by a hand pump or motor—affect movement. voxcraft-viz is the visualization component of a three-part project alongside voxcraft-sim, a CUDA- and GPU-based simulator, and voxcraft-evo, which uses evolutionary algorithms to design voxel robots automatically. It is useful in classroom demonstrations, soft-robotics experiments, and early-stage research into designs that may later be manufactured.

Developed by Sida Liu, voxcraft-viz 3.01 is open-source software for Linux in the Education category and runs on x86_64 (amd64) systems. Linux with snapd is required. Its interactive simulation view suits people who want to understand voxelbot mechanics directly, compare alternative manually created bodies, or review the output of automated design research.
