winmon reads and displays hardware data for Intel processors and NVIDIA discrete graphics cards directly in a Windows terminal. It is aimed at inspecting these two hardware categories from a command-line environment instead of a conventional graphical monitor. A normal launch opens a text-based interface, while pipe mode formats the monitor for terminal data handling, debug mode supports diagnostics, and serve mode exposes it as a service endpoint.

It suits administrators, developers, and hardware-focused users checking temperatures, power readings, or sensor values locally and from command-line sessions. Windows Terminal, PowerShell, or cmd should be started with administrator privileges, since otherwise temperature, power, and some other sensor readings may appear as N/A or blank. The first run creates a stable copy and runtime data under %APPDATA%\winmon, after which newly opened cmd or PowerShell sessions can invoke winmon directly; Windows PowerShell 5.1 is more reliable when the program is first saved to disk before execution. Direct command use is also supported from cmd and from a macOS system connected to Windows through SSH.

An example-grafana directory helps connect winmon to Prometheus and Grafana, and a Prometheus server on another machine can use the winmon serve address after its configuration replaces 192.168.8.16:9090 with the actual endpoint. CPU temperature and P/E-core sensor readings depend on the bundled OpenHardwareMonitorLib.dll and its runtime dependencies. The current 0.7.0 release is for x64 Windows 8 or later and Windows Server 2012 or later, uses a static CRT without an additional VC++ runtime dependency, and is distributed under an open-source license.
