About

Search a hard drive by filename, size, or date and see matching files almost immediately with WizFile. Results appear as you type, so refining a query produces an instant view instead of waiting for a scan to finish. Customisable filters can narrow searches by file type, size, and date, with comparison operators such as >, <, >=, <=, and = for precise size or time-based queries.

WizFile keeps its results current in real time, updating the display when files are added, removed, or changed. On NTFS-formatted drives, it reads the disk’s Master File Table directly and uses the same high-speed disk-scanning functions as WizTree to load file information quickly. An efficient in-memory database tracks the file index while using minimal CPU and RAM, with negligible effect on normal PC performance. It returns results in a fraction of a second, whereas Windows file searches can take minutes or even hours.

The program suits anyone who regularly locates documents, media, archives, or other files across large drives, including home users and IT staff investigating disk contents. Antibody Software actively develops this x64 Windows System Tools program, and new features are added regularly. The current version, 3.15, fixes a date-filtering bug introduced in version 3.14, restoring expected results when filtering by time.
