Work Profile VPN Switcher

Work Profile VPN Switcher is an open-source Android application that manages a configured work profile in relation to VPN connections. When a VPN connects, it disables the work profile so that work-profile applications are not active while the VPN is in use. When the VPN disconnects, the application can optionally restore the work profile to its previous state. This is useful when work applications should not run through a VPN tunnel or when work activity needs to be isolated from VPN traffic.

The application can also use reverse logic, disabling the work profile if it is manually enabled while a VPN remains active. An allowlist mode monitors only selected VPN applications, while a denylist mode monitors all VPN connections except excluded applications, including setups involving AdGuard. Background polling provides a fallback on devices where the operating system suppresses network events. The interface is available in Russian and English.

Work Profile VPN Switcher requires Android 11 or newer and a configured work profile created with Shelter or a similar application. It also requires the MODIFY_QUIET_MODE permission, which must be granted manually through ADB with the command adb shell pm grant io.github.snood21.workprofilevpnswitcher android.permission.MODIFY_QUIET_MODE. This permission must be granted again after a clean reinstall, but it remains available through regular updates. If automatic switching does not work, Background polling should be enabled in Advanced settings, and the system should also allow autostart with battery mode set to No restrictions.

On Android, the application fits the System Tools category because it controls work-profile availability based on device connection state.
