Aleph One20260930

Play the Marathon trilogy and its community-created scenarios on a Mac through Aleph One, an open-source continuation of Bungie’s Marathon 2 game engine. It natively supports Marathon, Marathon 2, and Marathon Infinity, bringing these classic campaigns to current play sessions with updated graphics from the XBLA remake of Marathon 2. Many third-party scenarios and net maps extend the available content beyond the original trilogy.

Solo players can follow the trilogy’s survival story, from defending a colony ship against the Pfhor to hunting an ancient ally and rewriting history to prevent the universe’s destruction. Multiplayer supports matches or cooperative play for up to eight participants, with peer-to-peer games operating over a LAN or over the Internet when the host is configured properly. Aleph One also provides a global matchmaking lobby where players can find others and chat before joining a game, and Infinity is the usual setting for online matches.

The program suits Marathon fans, retro-game players, and groups organizing cooperative or competitive sessions across a local network or the Internet. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux; the Mac build supports both Intel and Apple Silicon processors and is distributed as freeware. Version 20260930 is the 1.11 release dated August 29, 2025, representing the current release for Mac users.
