banksiagui gives Mac players a graphical interface for working with chess positions and games on screen. Instead of presenting chess through text alone, it places the board and current game state in a visual application window, making the position the central object of attention. This solves the practical problem of needing a dedicated chess front end rather than handling a game through command-line input or an otherwise generic workspace.

The program is aimed at chess players who want a computer-based setting for personal sessions, position review, and other situations where seeing the board is important. Its scope is deliberately focused on chess, so its main role is to provide the visual environment in which chess activity takes place. A board-centered GUI gives players a direct way to follow the arrangement of pieces as a game develops, instead of translating the position from notation alone.

The current version is 0.58 and runs on MacOS computers using Apple Silicon (arm64). banksiagui is freeware. Its interface is therefore designed for direct, visual chess work on compatible Mac hardware.
