Cawbird Twitter Client

Cawbird Twitter Client is an open-source communication application for Linux desktops using GNOME 3. It provides a desktop interface for reading and managing Twitter accounts rather than requiring all activity to take place in a web browser. The client is intended for users who want to follow accounts, review posts, and work with more than one Twitter account from one application.

The application supports inline previews for images and videos, allowing this media to be viewed within the client. Users can create lists and favorites, filter tweets, and search the full text of available content. Cawbird also supports management of multiple Twitter accounts, which can be useful when separate accounts need to be handled from the same Linux desktop.

Cawbird uses Twitter’s newer APIs and is a fork of Corebird, which became unsupported after Twitter disabled its streaming API. Because of changes to those APIs, the client updates every two minutes and does not receive some account or message changes immediately. Unfavourite, follow or unfollow, block or unblock, mute or unmute, direct-message deletion, and some list changes are refreshed when the client is restarted rather than through immediate notifications.
