ChromeOS Themes for Snaps

ChromeOS Themes for Snaps supplies the ChromeOS GTK theme to snapped applications, giving GNOME and other GTK-based Linux desktops a Material Design appearance. It packages the theme as a snap that other applications can access through the gtk-3-themes interface, solving the gap between a desktop theme and sandboxed snap software.

Users connect an individual snap’s gtk-3-themes plug to ChromeOS Themes for Snaps, or link every snap exposing the relevant gtk-common-themes plug in one operation. This makes the theme available across compatible snapped applications instead of limiting it to the desktop’s own interface. The theme is based on the ChromeOS GTK design and is suited to Linux users who want a consistent visual style across their desktop and snap applications.

The Vimix icon theme has an additional companion requirement: users pairing Vimix icons with ChromeOS must use the vimix-themes snap so application icons appear correctly in the Snap Store, then follow that snap’s guidance for connecting icons to other snap packages. Published by Genadi Naydenov, ChromeOS Themes for Snaps is open-source System Tools software for Linux systems with snapd, and it supports x86_64 (amd64) hardware. Its current version is 2020-01-18-25-g765be0e.
