Defold (Alpha)1.14.1

Defold lets developers create 2D and 3D games and publish them for desktop, mobile, web, and consoles from one codebase, avoiding separate platform workflows. Its all-in-one engine provides the core building blocks for game projects while keeping the engine footprint small. Developers write gameplay in Lua, extend it with native code, and use Live Update to deliver changes after release.

Hot Reload, fast builds, an integrated profiler, and a debugger support quick iteration during development. The editor and workflow can be adapted through the Asset Portal, native extensions, local build environments, Editor Scripts, and custom UI, with interface translations currently available in English, Russian, Chinese, and Portuguese. Defold also integrates with Atom, VS Code, Rive, Spine, TexturePacker, Tiled, analytics services, app-economy systems, game and platform services, and SDKs.

It suits independent developers, small teams, and studios making games that must reach several platforms, from early prototypes through released desktop, web, mobile, or console projects; Xbox support is marked as coming soon. Technical support contracts are available for teams that need additional assistance, and the project receives a new release every month.

The current MacOS release is version 1.14.1 for Apple Silicon (arm64). Defold is freeware with source available under a developer-friendly license and no runtime or other usage fee; newcomers can follow guided tutorials, courses, videos, examples, manuals, and community help from a first project to complete game features.
