Framework Tool

Inspect and control Framework laptops and desktop computers from a Linux terminal with Framework Tool, a command-line utility that brings firmware operations and hardware controls together. It gives Linux users a direct way to examine, update, and configure supported Framework components without switching between separate utilities.

The tool can inspect and update BIOS, embedded controller, power delivery controller, and retimer firmware. It also displays system information covering power, thermal conditions, sensors, and the state of USB-C ports. Hardware controls include keyboard backlight adjustment, battery charge limits, and fan settings.

Framework Tool manages Framework expansion cards such as HDMI, DisplayPort, and audio cards. On Framework 16 systems, it adds controls for the input deck and expansion bay, and it supports NVIDIA GPUs. These capabilities make it useful to Framework owners maintaining firmware, diagnosing system status, or tuning laptop hardware from scripts and terminal sessions.
