FreeCAD

Create editable three-dimensional models, revise their dimensions, and refine a design without rebuilding it from the beginning with FreeCAD. Its parametric modeling system records the parameters behind each feature, so you can return to earlier stages and change the values that control the finished shape. This approach suits iterative product design, mechanical parts, architectural work, and other projects where dimensions may change repeatedly.

FreeCAD reads and writes STEP, IGES, and STL files, allowing models to move between compatible design tools in those formats. The Linux package provides the main program through the freecad command, while freecad.cmd supports command-line use. The companion freecad.pip command installs Python packages for the user instead of installing them system-wide; for example, it can add ladybug-core for use with the BIM workbench. Its channel structure offers a choice between the current general release and builds intended for testing.
