Ghost Rain3.1

Ghost Rain turns the Android home and lock screens into a falling-glyph digital-rain display, with bright white-green heads, fading trails, and broad areas of black space. Its columns move at different speeds and shimmer independently, so individual katakana, digits, Latin letters, and symbols change without synchronizing. A brightness gradient keeps each glyph vivid at the head before it fades exponentially into the background, while a shimmer control ranges from a quiet drift to constant churn.

An optional system HUD can add a custom title, RAM, disk, battery, CPU, IP address, and uptime readouts, with every item independently switchable. Sliders set the HUD’s position and size while an on-screen preview shows the result; the IP address is redacted on the lock screen by default, with an opt-out available. Home and lock screens have separate configurations for their HUD content, placement, and scale, and named layouts can be saved and applied to either screen.

Ghost Rain 3.1 is an open-source System Tools utility for Android 8.0 and newer, using Universal architecture. It suits people who want a distinctive ambient display, an at-a-glance system monitor, or separate visual setups for private and public screens. The app uses no internet permission, tracking, analytics, or accounts, reads system statistics locally, and keeps that information on the device. When assigning the wallpaper, select Both to cover both screens and let Ghost Rain switch between their configurations; if the lock-screen clock overlaps the HUD, set that clock to Small in the lock-screen settings.
