About
Choose a video, audio track, or image on your computer and send it directly to a Smart TV or Chromecast device for playback. Go2TV lets you select the media, choose a playback target, and start viewing or listening without copying the file to a USB drive or configuring a media server.
It supports Samsung, LG, and Sony Smart TVs through DLNA/UPnP, as well as Chromecast devices, BubbleUPnP, and GMediaRender. Automatic device discovery helps locate compatible receivers, while seeking lets you move through supported media. External subtitle files and subtitles embedded in media are both supported.
When a receiver cannot play the original format, optional on-the-fly transcoding through FFmpeg converts it during playback. The software provides both a graphical interface and a command-line mode, fitting living-room playback, quick TV testing, and scripted casting workflows. It casts video, audio, and images directly from the computer to the selected device.
Go2TV is open-source Video & Media Players software for Linux. Version 2.8.0 fixes a getprotocolinfo call error that previously caused many MKV files to fail during playback.

- Improved audio streaming reliability for URL casting, including transcoded playback.
- Improved the embedded subtitles picker: it now says when FFmpeg is required and is disabled for videos without subtitle tracks.
- Improved subtitle options: they are now disabled for audio files and images, including on Android, and follow the URL you type.
- Fixed large videos failing to start or taking too long to load when casting with transcoding and subtitles.
- Fixed seeking and subtitle timing, including on Samsung TVs.
- Fixed the Cast button re-enabling before playback starts on DLNA devices.
- Fixed DLNA autoplay and gapless playback stalling, skipping, or stopping early at the end of tracks on some renderers.
- Fixed DLNA devices showing the previous video's length and progress after switching to a live stream.
- Fixed the media server staying active after Chromecast playback finished.
- Fixed go2tv leaving many idle network connections open to cast devices.
- Fixed changing the FFmpeg location clearing the selected media, URL or playlist; video thumbnails now refresh right away.
- Fixed media controls staying locked after leaving Cast Desktop when FFmpeg is unavailable.
- Fixed the app freezing when the RTMP server was started without a working FFmpeg.
- Fixed the RTMP server option turning back on while casting the desktop or after FFmpeg became unavailable.
- Android: Redesigned the main screen with a rounded bottom player bar, landscape layout, larger touch targets, and clearer playback, device and radio status.
- Android: Preserved read access to files selected through the system picker across app restarts.
- Windows: Fixed casting failing when another app was already using port 3500.
