VLC3.0.24-rc1

Play local video and audio files or open network streams in VLC, using one program for ordinary playback and network-based viewing. Developed by VideoLAN, it brings together file playback, disc support, podcast listening, and streamed media in a single interface. Its open-source license and openly available code suit users who want a privacy-friendly media player whose implementation and licensing can be examined.

It handles MKV, MP4, MPEG, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MOV, WMV, QuickTime, WebM, FLAC, MP3, and Ogg/Vorbis files. VLC also plays Blu-ray discs, DVDs, VCDs, podcasts, and multimedia streams from various network sources, covering video, audio, physical media, and online content. Subtitle and closed-caption support makes it practical for dialogue-heavy video and accessible viewing. Translations into numerous languages help people use the player in different language environments.

It is intended for Linux users watching downloaded media, listening to music or podcasts, viewing discs, or accessing network broadcasts through one application. On Linux, it requires snapd and runs on x86_64 (amd64) architecture. The current version is 3.0.24-rc1.
