homebridge

homebridge lets Linux users connect supported third-party smart-home services to a HomeKit setup through a server running on their home network. It emulates the iOS HomeKit API, serving as a software bridge between HomeKit and device services that otherwise expose their own manufacturer APIs. This gives a HomeKit-oriented household a way to bring compatible equipment into one connected environment.

The server is built with Node.js and uses community-supplied plugins for its device integrations. Each plugin provides the connection between HomeKit and a particular smart-home manufacturer API, so available device support comes from separate community components rather than from the core server alone. Users can therefore choose plugins suited to the equipment and services they already operate on their network.

homebridge is aimed at Linux users running their own bridge for smart-home hardware whose APIs are supported by these plugins, including personal home automation setups and development-oriented installations. It requires Linux with snapd and runs on x86_64 (amd64) systems. Developed by Ondrej Kubik, it is released under an open-source license, and the current version is 2.0.23-2026-11-03.
