About
Give a Linux desktop the Yaru MATE visual style by applying its coordinated icon set to desktop applications and system functions. icon-theme-yaru-mate packages these icons as a Snap, providing a defined package format for users customizing their desktop rather than installing a general-purpose application. Yaru MATE is the default theme for Ubuntu MATE 21.04 and later releases, where it supplies the platform’s familiar GTK-based appearance.
The theme can be connected to an individual snapped application, or linked across all snapped applications that support theme plugs. This allows supported sandboxed software to use the same icon design instead of retaining an unrelated visual set. The package is published by Martin Wimpress, and the official Snap is built by the Ubuntu MATE team from configuration maintained for this project and the upstream Yaru theme source.
Installation requires Linux with snapd and supports amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, powerpc, ppc64el, riscv64, and s390x systems. Version 22.04.16 is distributed under a freeware license. Linux users who want the Yaru MATE appearance, especially Ubuntu MATE users on 21.04 or newer, are the primary audience. Developers contributing to the project’s GitHub development can create an account there to participate.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, powerpc, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x
