Test password hashes and encrypted files for weak passwords with John the Ripper CE Auditing Tool, a Linux security utility focused on password auditing. Its primary task is to identify weak Unix passwords by applying password-cracking tests to stored password data.
It supports common Unix crypt(3) hash types, Windows LM hashes, and various macOS password hashes. The tool also works with SSH private keys, encrypted macOS .dmg files and sparse bundles, ZIP, RAR, and 7z archives, plus encrypted PDF and Microsoft Office documents.
