Capture notes and to-do items, arrange them into notebooks, and keep a large body of information searchable in one place. Joplin helps replace scattered reminders and documents with a workspace where notes can be created, edited, organized, and maintained over time. Tags add another way to group related material, while full-text search locates words across the collection.

Notes use Markdown, so they can be copied into Joplin or edited with an external text editor. Import tools accept plain Markdown files and material from Evernote and other applications, carrying over formatted content converted to Markdown, images, attachments, and available metadata. Synchronization connects the same notes across Linux, macOS, Windows, and mobile devices through Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, or Joplin Cloud. End-to-end encryption can protect synchronized data, and plugins and themes allow customization, including extensions and designs made by users themselves.

Joplin is an open-source Reading & Writing app for Android 7.0 and newer, suited to students, writers, researchers, and anyone tracking tasks alongside reference notes. Its Android build supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures, but provides no camera capabilities or location functions. The current version is 3.7.8.
