KeePassX

KeePassX lets you gather usernames, passwords, URLs, attachments, and comments in one password database instead of managing them separately. The database is protected by a single master key, giving you one controlled entry point for all stored credentials and personal data.

Every record can have its own title and icon, while customizable groups help organize entries by service, project, or purpose. An integrated search can scan either the selected group or the entire database, making it practical to retrieve a particular account quickly. The complete database is encrypted with either AES, also known as Rijndael, or Twofish using a 256-bit key.

KeePassX is aimed at Linux users who need a central password safe for everyday accounts and other sensitive information. It is a Linux port of the Windows password manager KeePass Password Safe, uses a database format compatible with that application, and is described as cross-platform. Its interface is intentionally light, while the single encrypted file keeps related password information together.

The software runs on Linux and is published by bdmayes under the GNU General Public License as open-source software. The current release incorporates the KeePassX 0.4.4 security update.
