LocalSend lets you send files and folders directly between nearby devices on the same local network, avoiding the need to route a quick transfer through email or messaging. Its device list lets you choose a recipient, while the receiving device accepts the incoming items through the app. Published by localsend, it is an open-source Internet & Browsers program for Linux and a cross-platform alternative to AirDrop.

Transfers can also use the Receive via link browser page, which now accepts files dragged onto it, including a mixture of folders and individual files. Desktop users can customize those web share pages by putting HTML files in a web folder beside the executable. This suits households moving photos between devices, classrooms exchanging coursework, and offices sharing documents across nearby computers.

Version 1.18.2 restores compatibility with version 1.17.0 and earlier on networks where multicast is unavailable, and fixes the inability of those older devices to favorite devices running 1.18.0 or later. It also ignores system proxies that could trigger TLS information errors, restarts its HTTP or multicast server after a failure or app resume, and refuses HTTP redirects sent by peers. The AppImage now reports its actual version, and the Windows binaries include a signature.
