LxReader

Open digital books from local Android storage and read them with controls for layout, navigation, typography, and text handling. LxReader supports FB2, incomplete FB3, non-DRM EPUB, DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, PDB, non-DRM MOBI, TXT, HTML, Markdown, CHM, and TCR files through the crengine-ng library. Its particularly extensive FB2 support preserves styles, tables, and footnotes positioned at the bottom of the page.

Text rendering can use ligatures, kerning, adjustable hinting, floating punctuation, and several fonts together with fallback fonts. Hyphenation dictionaries handle word breaks, while CSS files provide additional control over book styling. Books can appear as a single page or facing two-page view, with table-of-contents navigation and bookmarks for returning to chosen passages.

LxReader opens books inside ZIP archives, detects text-file encodings automatically, and reformats TXT content for reading. Pages can use pictures, textures, or solid-color backgrounds, and page turns can imitate a paper sheet or use a simple sliding movement. Custom actions can be assigned to touchscreen zones, while a long press on illustrations enables scrolling and zooming. Readers can select passages for copying to the clipboard or sending to another application, and use read-aloud support with an accent dictionary. A built-in library offers search and filtering, complemented by a simple file manager for browsing books and other files stored on the device.

The open-source LxReader 0.8.6 (fdroid) runs on Android 5.0 or later and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures. This release adds WebP image support in books through crengine-ng-0.9.13 and updates its third-party libraries.
