About

LxReader is an open-source e-book reader for Android, listed in the Reading & Writing category. It is intended for Android users who read digital books stored on their devices in a range of common and specialized formats. Through the crengine-ng library, it supports FB2, incomplete FB3, non-DRM EPUB, DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, PDB, non-DRM MOBI, TXT, HTML, Markdown, CHM, and TCR files.

The application provides particularly extensive FB2 support, including styles, tables, and footnotes placed at the bottom of the page. Its text rendering options include ligatures, kerning, selectable hinting, floating punctuation, and the simultaneous use of several fonts with fallback fonts. Hyphenation dictionaries can be used for word hyphenation, while CSS files allow flexible styling. Books can be shown as one page or two pages at the same time, and readers can navigate the table of contents and create bookmarks.

LxReader can open books directly from ZIP archives and can automatically recognize text-file encodings while reformatting TXT content. Pages may use background pictures, textures, or solid colors, with page-turn animations that resemble a paper page or use a simple shift. Touch-screen zones can be assigned customized actions, and illustrations can be viewed with scrolling and zooming after a long press. Readers can select text and send it to the clipboard or another application, use reading aloud with an accent dictionary, and browse books through a built-in library with search and filtering.

The application also includes a simple file manager for viewing files stored on the device. As an Android reading tool, it combines local file browsing, book organization, text display, and reading controls within the same application. MirrorNest distributes the official LxReader build directly from its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. Its open-source license and Android platform place it within a software catalog section for users seeking a reading application that supports varied document formats.

Requires Android 5.0+
