About
Manga Reader opens local manga folders or archives and presents their images as a readable vertical sequence. On Linux, this open-source Photo & Graphics application handles ZIP, RAR, TAR, 7Z, CBZ, CBR, CBT, and CB7 files, as well as ordinary folders containing images. It gives readers one place to browse collections stored on their computer instead of opening individual image files separately.
Images can be sized to fit the available width, fit the height, use a user-defined maximum width, or appear at their original dimensions. Multiple manga directories can be registered in a folder tree, letting readers switch between collections and open a title from that navigation view. Manga can be bookmarked for returning to a chosen point, and keyboard shortcuts can be configured for preferred controls.
It suits readers maintaining offline libraries, organizing several manga folders, or continuing a title across separate sessions. Flatpak is an available distribution route, while users who choose to build from source should note that CMake reports the required dependencies and the main CMakeLists.txt records them through its find_package entries; a distribution package may also be requested from the Linux distribution. Manga Reader is in maintenance mode, so development is limited to bugfixes.
Version 2.5.2 fixes bookmark opening so it scrolls to the bookmarked page and restores horizontal scrolling when an image exceeds the viewing area.
Requires Linux + Flatpak · Architecture: x86_64, aarch64
