Metadata Cleaner2.5.4

Metadata Cleaner lets you inspect the embedded metadata in files and remove as much of it as possible before sharing them. A photograph may contain its capture time, geographic location, and camera model, revealing details that are unrelated to the image itself. Documents and spreadsheets can also carry the author’s name and company information added automatically by office software.

The program lets users examine these file details and then clean the metadata, helping them decide what information should leave the file with its visible content. It fits situations such as preparing personal photos for publication, sending images to other people, or distributing office documents without attached identity and organization details. Cleaning is intended to reduce disclosure, although the application describes its removal capability as extending only as far as possible.
