Create and edit notes as Markdown-formatted text files for personal writing, reference notes, or a journal. Optional templates provide starting content and filenames for new notes, while CSS styles and JavaScript scripts can customize formatted display. Notes can show media and OpenStreetMap maps, insert media from media providers, and accept media or geographic URIs shared by other apps.

You can share or print notes, save them under another filename, insert the current date and time, and back up the collection to a ZIP archive. Incremental search updates as you type, can move to the next match through the search widget or keyboard action, and can list every note containing the current text; recent-file lists can also be cleared. Editing includes dark and light themes, a shortcut and widget for creating notes, and optional control over the cursor’s starting position.

The default note opens at startup and can act as an index page linking to other notes, while a note can link to the bundled help file and save that file under another name. In formatted view, double-tapping switches to editing near the corresponding Markdown position, although accuracy varies with formatting and embedded media. The floating Edit button opens editing and Accept returns to formatted view; a long touch hides the button until rotation or a long touch on the page, while scrolling up hides it temporarily and scrolling down restores it.

Toolbar and menu commands cover creating, opening, saving, style editing, settings, and the other operations above. Notes is open-source for Android, and version 1.41 updates the Android SDK and permissions, revises navigation, and runs on Android 6.0 or later with Universal architecture.
