About

open-planner-studio lets construction teams build schedules, track dependencies, and identify the work governing completion through interactive Gantt charts and Critical Path Method calculations. Its desktop workspace combines automatic critical-path and float calculation with collapsible Work Breakdown Structure groups, drag-and-drop task editing, vertical task reordering or reparenting, and chart zoom. A spreadsheet-style table supports bulk changes, while construction calendars can capture holidays, seasonal shutdowns, inspection milestones, and project phasing. The built-in report view provides a live, configurable print preview for sharing schedule information.

Resources and calendars are maintained in a shared, project-independent library, allowing teams to reuse equipment, crews, and calendar definitions across projects. Assigning a library item places it in the project with provenance information that identifies its origin and shows whether it has diverged from the library version. Projects use IFC 4.3 from buildingSMART as their native format, so files remain standard-compliant IFC models rather than proprietary project containers; CSV, Microsoft Project, and Primavera P6 import and export are also supported.

The application can operate as an MCP server, letting an AI assistant such as Claude Code read and modify an open plan by creating or rescheduling tasks, connecting dependencies, and managing resources and calendars. AI access is opt-in and disabled by default, with pause and read-only controls, automatic backups before AI changes, and a visible activity log for every assistant action. An extension system adds custom ribbon buttons and behavior, and the interface supports 14 languages, including right-to-left Arabic and Persian.
