OpenComic lets readers open comic and manga collections, browse their pages, and resume books from saved positions. It displays JPG, JP2, JXR, JXL, PNG, APNG, AVIF, HEIC, WEBP, GIF, SVG, BMP, and ICO images, while also opening RAR, ZIP, 7Z, TAR, LZH, ACE, CBR, CBZ, CBA, CB7, and CBT archives. PDF files are supported, and EPUB reading is available as an alpha feature.

A folder can supply background music in MP3, M4A, WEBM, WEBA, OGG, OPUS, WAV, or FLAC format. OpenComic connects to SMB, FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, SSH, S3, WebDAV, and WebDAVS locations, and it can organize libraries through master folders and OPDS catalogs. Favorite and custom labels help sort collections, while bookmarks and continue-reading support make it practical for long series.

Manga mode, Webtoon mode, double-page viewing, scrolling or sliding navigation, a floating magnifying glass, and controls for brightness, saturation, contrast, sepia, negative, inverted colors, and black-and-white colorization cover different reading styles. Gamepad navigation, customizable shortcuts and tap zones, AniList and MyAnimeList tracking, and interpolation options including lanczos3, lanczos2, mitchell, cubic, linear, and nearest provide additional control. It suits comic and manga readers who keep local archives, use remote libraries, or read chapters on a Linux desktop.

OpenComic is open-source software for Linux in the Photo & Graphics category. Version 1.6.5 adds automatic scrolling when moving the cursor through the screen center to go to the previous or next chapter, fixes a cancellation issue that could break the magnifier, and uses Electron 37.8.0 to address Linux font-rendering problems.
