Pigment0.5.1

Pigment extracts a color palette from an image, giving designers a compact set of colors to reuse in artwork, layouts, or visual references. It performs the analysis offline and does not connect to the internet, keeping the source image and generated palette on the local computer. Instead of producing one fixed result, it lets you balance processing speed against accuracy by changing the number and quality of colors in the palette.

A smaller, simpler color set can be produced quickly for early visual exploration, while more colors and higher quality can preserve finer variations in the source image. This makes Pigment useful for graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, and developers who need to derive a coordinated color scheme from existing imagery. It can support tasks such as building a mood board, matching interface colors to a photograph, or finding starting colors for a new illustration.

Pigment is an open-source Photo & Graphics application for Linux, developed by Jeffry Samuel Eduarte Rojas. Version 0.5.1 requires Linux with snapd and runs on x86_64 (amd64) hardware. The software is licensed under GPL-3.0, and its code can be audited freely. Its combination of local processing and adjustable palette detail distinguishes it from a one-click color picker by giving users control over how much of an image’s color information is retained.
