Users can block Shorts and paid videos, download complete playlists at once, and search or sort entries in local playlists and viewing histories. These controls suit people who browse multiple video services, maintain personal queues, or use the app for background listening and bedtime playback.

PipePipe is open-source software in the Video & Media Players category, requiring Android 6.0 or later on arm64-v8a devices; the current version is 5.4.0. It began as a hard fork of NewPipe in early 2022 and is developed independently, so it neither receives updates from NewPipe nor sends changes back, and issues or changes in one project do not necessarily affect the other. That development model allows quick fixes and frequent feature updates, while the project accepts issues and pull requests but does not accept service requests.
