Pixeldraw

Create pixel art by opening Pixeldraw, drawing directly, and enjoying a compact workflow that avoids a training-heavy interface. Developed by akshy, it is open-source Photo & Graphics software built around straightforward pixel-based drawing.

Separate artwork into multiple layers so different elements can remain organized within one project. Multiple frames support frame-by-frame work, while keyboard support keeps drawing actions accessible from the keys. The uncluttered approach suits newcomers making their first pixel-art pieces and experienced users preparing quick animated studies.

Completed images can be exported as PNG files or animated GIFs. Pixeldraw also saves projects in a custom format, retaining the project for later editing rather than limiting the work to a flattened image. Its simple open-draw-save flow is useful for small illustrations, animation tests, and other pixel-based creations.

The current release is v0.3.0+git1.dff3274, and it includes a breaking project-file change: older project files are not supported. It requires Linux with snapd and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems.
