About
It supplies the ROS 2 Lyrical ros-base stack to other snaps that depend on it, giving packaged ROS 2 applications access to a shared runtime foundation. Through its content interface, it exposes ROS 2 Lyrical libraries, components, and executables for use by those snaps. Sharing these files can reduce the size of individual application snaps and gives developers a common base for packaging ROS 2 software.
The snap is intended for developers distributing ROS 2 applications as snaps and for users running those applications. A dependent snap installs and removes this content automatically when it needs it, so the package functions as supporting infrastructure rather than as a standalone application. Manual installation or removal is discouraged because it can disrupt snaps that rely on the shared content. Developers incorporating it into their own snaps should use the ROS extensions and consult the ROS deployment and supported extensions documentation.
ros-lyrical-ros-base requires Linux with snapd and supports amd64 and arm64 systems. The current version is 0.1, and Ubuntu Robotics Community publishes it as freeware. Developers can inspect its source and report content-snap issues through its GitHub project.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: amd64, arm64
