About

rosbot-xl operates a ROSbot XL mobile robot by supplying the onboard software that controls its hardware and publishes the robot’s current state. It is designed for configuring the single-board computer housed in the chassis and connecting it with the robot’s Digital Board.

The package includes the onboard controller and robot state publisher, then provides a basic ROSbot XL configuration through a snap. Its configurable groups cover configuration, driver, ros, and webui functions, giving users a defined structure for adapting the robot’s operation.

ROS settings include the domain ID, localhost-only mode, namespace, and DDS transport, with support for udp, shm, builtin, rmw_fastrtps_cpp, and rmw_cyclonedds_cpp. Driver settings select mecanum or differential drive, include the camera mount, and optionally define camera and LIDAR models. Firmware and OpenManipulator-X connections can use automatic or specified serial ports, while related DDS XML file locations and custom FastDDS configurations are also configurable.

It suits developers and operators who configure or run ROSbot XL robots and need onboard control, sensor options, and ROS networking in one package. The single-board computer requires an Ethernet connection to the Digital Board, with firmware using port 8888. Husarion publishes version 1.1.2 as freeware for Linux on amd64 and arm64 systems, with snapd required.
