Create dimensioned 2D sections and turn them into constrained 3D parts with solvespace, adjusting measurements while the model updates. Extrusions, revolutions, helixes, and Boolean union, difference, and intersection operations support detailed solid modeling. Constraint-driven dimensions keep a drawing live as values change, replacing hand-solved trigonometry and spreadsheet calculations with an interactive geometric model.

A 2D part can be exported as DXF, PDF, or SVG, while a 3D assembly helps verify that components fit together. For 3D printing, the program exports STL and other triangle-mesh formats expected by many printers. It also produces 2D vector artwork for waterjet and laser cutting, or STEP and STL files for import into third-party CAM software used for machining.

Mechanical designers can use the constraint solver to simulate planar or spatial linkages with pin, ball, and slide joints. The same tools suit technical drawing, part design, mechanism studies, and preparation of fabrication data. The current 3.1~70bde63c version runs on Linux with snapd on x86_64 (amd64) systems and is distributed as open-source software.
