Stoat (Unofficial)1.5.4

Use Stoat (Unofficial) to exchange messages with friends, attach images, mention other users, and share website links in organized text channels. Friend requests lead into direct conversations, while group DMs accommodate up to 50 members for project collaboration or informal voice groups, with bots available there too. Communities can assign role-based permissions, apply detailed access controls, and use moderation tools and bots to manage activity.

Profiles support custom emojis, animated avatars, banners, and server-specific pictures, while a 20MB file-upload limit covers routine sharing without a subscription. Built-in themes can be supplemented through the Discover section or replaced with themes you create yourself. Stoat avoids ads, data mining, and partnerships that compromise the community experience, and its public API supports bots and custom clients alongside the official applications.

An account’s conversations and settings synchronize across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and the web; communities may use hosted servers or operate their own. The app suits casual friend groups, growing communities, moderators, bot authors, and developers building integrations. Developers can also use the open issue tracker and community server to report problems or request features.

This Linux communication app is open-source and requires Linux with snapd on x86_64 (amd64) hardware. Version 1.5.4 is an unofficial Snap published by Tsugu, so issues with this package should be directed to Tsugu rather than Stoat’s developers.
