Stroke Input Method (筆畫輸入法) provides a minimalist Chinese keyboard that can be selected as an Android input method, adding stroke entry directly to the operating system. As an Android System Tool, it is intended for text entry rather than composing or managing other content.

Users can choose to display candidates in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, or the available form that suits their writing needs. Candidate selection is deterministic, so the keyboard does not learn from typing habits or alter its behavior based on previous input. It contains no advertising, requests no permissions, and includes no tracking or telemetry.

The app’s instructions guide users through enabling Stroke Input Method in Android’s system settings, after which it can be chosen from Android’s keyboard options whenever Chinese text is entered. Android may show its standard warning when a keyboard is enabled. It suits people who prefer stroke-based entry, including users typing Chinese on phones or tablets without relying on pronunciation.

Version 1.6.2 supports Android 7.0 and later and uses a Universal architecture. This release restores the missing eight-stroke form of U+58F3 壳, covering the unification of ⿱士冗 and ⿱士⿳冖一几, and corrects 儕塵嬙摯賾 so those characters are traditional-only. It also raises the target API level to 37 for Android 17, and the open-source software is licensed under GNU General Public License version 3.0.
