TamTam

TamTam is an open-source communication application for Linux. It supports text messaging, audio calls, and video calls through an internet connection. It is intended for people who want to communicate through one service across chats, calls, channels, and shared media, including when the connection is slow.

Users can create public or private chats with up to 20,000 members and assign up to 50 administrators. Chat tools include quoting, fast replies, message forwarding, and read receipts. TamTam also includes thousands of animated stickers, with new stickers added daily. Channels can have an unlimited number of members, support administrators, and can be created without a link for personal notes or conversations with yourself.

The service provides encrypted messages stored across a distributed network of servers, along with its own protocol for transmitting private data and support for protection algorithms such as TLS. Sign-in can use a mobile number or Gmail, and the application provides offline access, unlimited cloud space, and file transfers of up to 2 GB without compression. Other included functions are search across chats and channels, short links for profiles and conversations, and a built-in picture-in-picture video player. TamTam has desktop, web, and mobile versions and does not include advertisements.
