Universal Installer

Universal Installer is an open-source Android package manager in the System Tools category. It is designed for installing packages that standard Android handling may not cover, including split APKs and bundles containing OBB data. The app also supports silent installation through Shizuku, root access, or Dhizuku where the device setup allows it. Its interface uses Material 3 and provides a high-contrast orange theme by default.

The installer supports standard APK files, APK+ advanced split bundles, APKS split APK bundles, XAPK compressed bundles with OBB data, and APKM split bundles. Users can select local files through automatic storage scanning, package browsing, or a full file-browser mode. A URL can be pasted for remote downloading, with the package saved in Download/UniversalInstaller/ under its real filename. Download history supports reinstalling packages, copying source URLs, and managing downloaded files, while app integrations allow packages to be opened from Chrome, Gmail, and Telegram even when URLs lack file extensions.

Before installation, Universal Installer previews the package name, icon, version, package identifier, size, SDK targets, CPU architectures, languages, permissions, and the number of splits and OBB files. OBB data included in XAPK or APKM files is detected and copied automatically to Android/obb/. Standalone OBB files can also be attached to an APK from the preview sheet. A foreground worker continues OBB copying after the app is left and provides progress notifications. The copying process can use direct input and output, Shizuku, or the Storage Access Framework with a per-package folder grant as needed.

Shizuku enables silent installs without root when started through wireless debugging. Rooted devices can use silent installation with the full set of available flags, while Dhizuku provides silent installation without root or ADB by running as the device owner. Dhizuku requires a device with no accounts signed in and remains active after a reboot. Installer Profiles let users save and reuse install flags, spoofed installers, and target-user settings. MirrorNest stores the official build directly on its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing, giving Android users a distribution path that matches the app’s system-tool purpose.
