About
vmbackup is an open-source backup tool for Linux. It handles data protection for a VictoriaMetrics installation. The software creates backups using an existing destination and can work with data from earlier backup operations.
When the destination path already contains data from a previous backup, vmbackup creates an incremental backup automatically. A full backup can also use an existing backup stored on the same remote storage. In that case, shared data is copied on the server side, reducing the data transfer and time needed for the operation.
The backup process can be interrupted at any point without requiring it to start over. Running vmbackup again with the same arguments resumes the operation from where it stopped. Backed-up data can be restored with the related vmrestore tool, while vmbackupmanager provides a simpler way to create hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly backups.
In the MirrorNest catalog, vmbackup belongs to the Linux platform and System Tools category because it supports backup operations for a VictoriaMetrics installation. MirrorNest mirrors the official build directly onto its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing it. Its open-source license indicates that the software is distributed under an open-source licensing model.
