Voice Keyboard turns speech into typed text in the active field, so you can tap its microphone and dictate within any app. It has no speech engine of its own: use a key for Groq or Mistral, a server you run, or a compatible Chat Completions service whose model accepts the device’s recording format; audio goes only to your configured endpoint. A queue lets you begin another recording while earlier dictation is transcribed, while failed uploads remain on the device and retry when the connection returns.

You can cancel the newest unfinished dictation during recording, recognition, post-processing, or retry without stopping earlier recordings. Tap to cycle through dictation languages, long-press to choose one, and add names or technical terms to custom vocabulary; Voice Keyboard can also serve HeliBoard or another keyboard, then return control after typing. Optional input for other apps uses Android recognition or a dictation window with your saved provider, but is off by default, has no post-processing or context, requires a provider connection, and may not work in apps using their own speech engine.

Post-processing can correct punctuation, spelling, and filler words, shorten text, add emoji, rewrite it as verse, translate it, or turn dictation into shell commands; OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenAI-compatible providers such as OpenRouter are supported, with editable prompts. Recent-dictation context is optional, kept in memory for up to five of your dictations, shared across chats in one app, cleared when changing apps, and never reads conversations.

The keyboard includes punctuation, accelerating backspace, a send key, persistent clipboard, field-specific Enter actions, themes, and 17 interface languages; its microphone is disabled in password fields, and spacing follows existing text. The optional compact Terminal panel has full-size controls and instant expansion, and the app is open-source for Android 7.0+ on arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86. Version 1.10.0 adds optional Android recognition and a dictation window, latest-dictation cancellation, and Advanced settings for the new options; update checks can be enabled automatically or run manually, with releases coming directly from the developer and not reviewed by F-Droid.
