About
WarmSlider lets you tune a Linux display’s color temperature and brightness while you watch the screen change. Its live slider spans 2500 K for a warmer appearance through 6500 K for a neutral display, so the effect can be judged immediately and adjusted in place. Brightness can also be controlled live from 20% to 100% on displays that support it.
On X11, WarmSlider uses xrandr and automatically detects connected displays for direct color-temperature control. On Wayland, it works through GNOME’s native night-light service, making the available behavior dependent on the display session and requiring GNOME night-light integration in that environment. Persistent settings preserve chosen adjustments, while a one-click neutral reset restores the neutral display setting.
The utility is useful for people who want warmer evening viewing, quick brightness changes, or on-screen adjustment while working across X11 and Wayland sessions. WarmSlider is an open-source System Tools program by Aaditya banwari, currently at version 1.0.4 for Linux on x86_64 (amd64), and it requires snapd.
