Send files to another device by exchanging a short, word-based code rather than manually entering an address. Warp uses the Magic Wormhole protocol to choose the best available route, sending directly over the local network when that option is possible and otherwise using the internet. Every transfer is encrypted, providing protection while files move between the participating devices.

You can transfer files among multiple devices and use QR codes to share the connection details instead of typing the code. Warp requires an internet connection, even though it can favor a local-network transfer when the devices are on the same network. It works with the Magic Wormhole command-line client as well as other compatible applications, making it useful across mixed desktop and command-line workflows.

Warp is an open-source system tool for Linux, suited to people moving files between their own computers or sharing them with another device. The current 1.0.0 release introduces a new libadwaita shortcuts dialog, updates the application to the GNOME 50 runtime, refreshes translations, and removes an unused Flatpak permission. Its combination of encrypted transfers, code-based pairing, QR support, and protocol compatibility distinguishes it from basic file-copy utilities.
