wxDateCalc0.2.4

The chosen date can be earlier than the present, in which case wxDateCalc produces a negative calculation; the program permits this, although that is not the intended way to use it. It provides a customizable countdown to a selected date, helping users track how many days, hours, and minutes remain. Clicking its button places a message such as missing x days y hours z minutes in the old status bar. The countdown is handled through wxWidgets and its wxTimeSpan class, which manages long values and supports dates far into the future.

For the background image to appear, place a file named background.jpg in the home/snap/wxdatecalc/current directory. If that image cannot be found, the application reports the missing background but continues working. The selected date is saved when the program exits, so the same target is available during later use. Nothing is submitted online, keeping the countdown’s operation local to the desktop.

wxDateCalc is intended for Linux users who want a visible date countdown for an event, deadline, appointment, or other future occasion. Its language follows the system setting when that setting is Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, or Portuguese; with any other system language, it displays a notification that a translation is unavailable and opens in English. It is open-source software for Linux, and its wxWidgets-based design distinguishes it through adjustable presentation, background customization, and support for long date spans.
