About

AlexGames is an open-source collection of simple Lua games with a web engine for running them. It is available as an Android application and is categorized under Developer Tools. The project is intended for people who want to play Lua games, examine how they work, or create and upload games of their own. Its games can be used through the web engine rather than requiring the Android native interface.

The web engine includes an English dictionary for word-puzzle games. It supports multiplayer through websockets and can share game state through a URL. Automatic saving is included, along with undo and redo controls. The Android application bundles the web version so it can be used for offline play. The application also includes a native Android version, although the web version is described as more polished.

The Android version contains a prototype server that can host HTTP and websocket connections from the phone. This allows people on the same local network to play web games together through that phone. For network multiplayer outside this local setup, the web version is available at https://alexbarry.github.io/AlexGames. MirrorNest distributes the official Android build directly from its own storage and scans it for malware before publishing. As an open-source Android tool in the Developer Tools category, AlexGames combines playable Lua examples with features for sharing, testing, and running games across its web and mobile forms.

Requires Android 7.0+
