About
amass maps an organization’s externally visible network presence by enumerating DNS information and organizing the assets it discovers. It identifies systems and other assets that can be seen beyond an organization’s internal network, then helps place them within the organization’s broader network context. The resulting research supports external asset discovery, network mapping, and attack-surface analysis.
The software gathers information from publicly available sources and supplements that material with active reconnaissance techniques. This combination gives security practitioners two complementary ways to investigate external assets and understand how those assets relate to one another. It is intended for security analysis, structured research, and assessments of an organization’s externally visible footprint.
In Security & Privacy work, amass suits practitioners examining an organization’s network exposure or building an inventory of assets that may warrant further investigation. Jeff Foley publishes it as open-source software, and the current version is v3.19.2. It runs on Linux with snapd and targets x86_64 (amd64) systems.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
