Audacity3.7.9

Record, cut, copy, splice, and mix audio in Audacity, then adjust a recording’s speed or pitch to shape it for a finished project. It handles WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP2, MP3, and Ogg Vorbis files, and provides many effects for processing recorded sound. Users can also transfer audio from tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs, making it useful for preservation, cleanup, and production work.

Musicians, podcasters, voice editors, archivists, and other audio makers can assemble takes, refine recordings, and prepare sound for sharing or later mastering. An interface translated into many languages supports work across different language settings. The Linux package includes OpenVINO AI plugins for separating music, suppressing noise, generating and continuing music, transcribing audio, and applying super resolution.

These plugins run only on Intel hardware, including Intel CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs, while GPU or NPU acceleration additionally requires membership in the render Unix group. Audacity 3.7.9 is an open-source Linux release for x86_64 (amd64) systems and requires Linux with snapd.
